Moving Pictures

In 2015, I was given the opportunity through R/West to produce and collaborate with Camp Westwind to create their brand video. Camp Westwind is a summer camp on the Oregon Coast, comprising of 529 acres touching the Salmon River and the Pacific Ocean. Founded in 1936, Camp Westwind lives and breathes to provide children access to wild and undeveloped landscapes. By working to conserve the Westwind site and promoting environmental stewardship, they’re gifting the nation by protecting a sparkling jewel of nature hidden away in the Pacific Northwest.

Work With Purpose

We wanted to tell the real story of Camp Westwind, and give people all over the world a way to see the beauty of the place and the children’s reactions to it. Our small team consisting of designers, camera crew, a few other creatives and myself drove out to the Oregon coastline to capture the last session of summer camp. We witnessed the pure joy of children running wild in nature, as well as the stark beauty of the place itself.

Producer

As the producer on this video, I coordinated all teams and ensured schedules, assets, and teams were in alignment and prepared for shoot, edit and delivery. I owned organizing pre-production materials, was on-site as a PA during the shoot, and was the POC for stakeholders to finalize the content and then deliver to the public.

Creative

Inspired by the music of Camp Westwind, I organized participants to create original music for this video. By recording groups of friends and colleagues clapping, I created a unique percussive element to the music that reflected the acoustic style Camp Westwind. Using my experience and comfort with recording, I was utilized as the voice over talent to be the voice of the brand.
